Bio

Denise Sirchie The marriage of glass and light, gemstones and tile, pearls and grout, chards of porcelain and bits of china consecrate mosaic art. Freedom abounds, as the choice of vessels and chards are endless. I’m always amazed at the images that come to mind when looking at an ordinary figurine…the infinite transformations. I savor the treasure hunt: finding the select piece for rejuvenating, a fun part of the puzzle. The chards are selected for contrast and texture; the grout becomes the form’s lifeline. My style ignores the contrived; I prefer to follow the natural flow of the vessel or space... harmonious with my life, acknowledging few boundaries and little conformation. As an artist, creating involves surrendering oneself to the piece. Every creation absorbs a droplet of time readily given from the artist’s palette of life. Enjoy, interpret, touch, question, and understand that it’s all about who we are.
