She began taking art classes after she retired in 2012, having spent 30 years as a software engineer followed by 10 more years as an occupational therapist. Her preferred medium is acrylic but she also paints with ink, and watercolor. She is fascinated by the play of light on water, and the effect of shadows, which is noticeable in her paintings of trees, animals, and boats. She also makes stained glass pieces. She has a studio in Newport at the old Bank Building, with two other artists, which is called the Art Bank and contains a small gallery. She is a member of the Blacksburg Regional Art Association http://www.blacksburgart.org).
