Bio

My body of work as an artist reflects my ongoing exploration at the border between what's considered art and what's considered purely functional, and my attempt to marry the two in new and unexpected ways. The result is a reinterpretation of traditional forms through unique combinations of utilitarian simplicity and sculptural aesthetics, and unique combinations of different media. In much the same vein, I also find myself driven to combine applications in new ways to create uniquely rich and beautiful effects. Since I was introduced to sculpture at Bennington College in Vermont, I have continued to develop my artistic skills in a wide range of media, always drawing on my early training in sculpture. I persisted at this pursuit even during and despite a professional career that ranged from motion picture development to web site production. But since 2000, I have dedicated my time and efforts to cultivating a career as a mixed-media artist in which I bring to my works a number of disciplines - including: lapidary, glass, weaving, ceramic and metal smithing.
