Soul Fusion Arts's Profile
Bio
My work is distinctly Contemporary and generally very Sculptural. Even in my more functional pieces, I strive to bring out the organic, textural qualities of glass and develop new techniques. To me, it's not just how the glass looks, but how it feels. I also put a lot of focus on how the glass will respond/react to light. Nothing I do is about production. It is ALL about soul, heart and inspiration. I believe in treating glass like a living organism. You have to respect the glass, and sometimes allow it to reveal itself to you and what it wants to be.
I believe you're never too young or too old to discover your inner creative spirit, and I really enjoy the opportunities I've had over the years to teach and offer apprenticeships for enthusiastic young artists. I find it very exciting to watch their passions grow and develop.
I believe art in all it's forms; both visual and performing arts have a great capacity to heal....not just individuals but the brokenness of our world. The intersection of art meeting with the mind+body+spirit connection is extremely powerful.
I don't "make art". I create pieces that continue to create me, and feed my soul. For me, being in that process connects me to a sacred space deep within and is very energizing as well as meditative. We all have to find our inner voice. Mine has always told me to make the world a better place and to put beauty into the world. I hope my glass is just one of the ways I achieve that.
