Pros : I’ve had this saw for years. It never lets me down. I use it to make impossible cuts and rough cut in “holes” for gems. Priceless.
Cons : As all saws, it requires regular maintenance. Keep replacement rubber guides, a replacement fuse, and a replacement belt at home.

  •   ring saw
By on
Pros : ease of use, does a great job
Cons : grid doesn't lay flat, no splash guard, would give it 5 stars if these things were different
Other Thoughts : needs a splash guard to keep water from splashing and I would prefer that the motor was on the outside and not enclosed in the water tank, love the saw it's great

  •   Works well
By on
Pros : Have used for several years and have had no problems. Allows me to make cuts you could never do any other way.Would buy again
Cons : The amount of water it puts on the glass makes it hard to follow my cut lines. I addressed this two ways, one put my lines on the top and bottom of my glass. Two, use a paint marker.

  •   Is just "okay"
By on
Pros : Quieter than Taurus II - that's the only pro.
Cons : 1. Work surface is tricky to attach. 2. Clear plastic eye guard broke very shortly after I bought it. This part must be removed to open the saw (poor design.) Now I go without it. 3. Doesn't feel as solid as Taurus II (this is the only other saw I can compare it to since I've owned and used both.) Blade feels feeble when cutting. That's the best I can describe it. Blade & belt slippage, even after constantly tightening and replacing blade. 4. You have to remove the work surface to see the water level - this is a pain!
Other Thoughts : I used the Taurus II for many years (at least 10 years and used it heavily)and then bought this saw, which I've used for a year, so I can only compare this saw to the Taurus II. It's quieter than the Taurus II and that's about the only thing good about it. In general I don't like this saw. It seems flimsy and the blade & belt tend to slip (a real pain to have to constantly open and fix.) Eye shield broke shortly after I purchased it. I am now looking into buying another Taurus saw, probably the Taurus III.

  •   Love It
By on
Pros : I have had this saw now for over a year now and have had no problems with it. I do have a band saw, but enjoy this one much better. In the time I've had this so far only the belt has had to be replaced. I make sure I totally clean it each time after use and remove all the grit. I introduced this to my students and after being afraid of using it they look forward to cutting questionable curves. I admit you do have to work pretty quickly when using it, but have found that using Mark Stay helps a great deal.
Cons : none for me
Other Thoughts : I also like the wide surface area. Wish the head had a spot light to shine on the cutting surface - Maybe that will be their next model.

  •   Absolutely great service from Gryphon
By on
Pros : I imported this saw to New Zealand at considerable expense and was mortified when I immediately struck problems with breaking blades. Gryphon was absolutely exceptional with their back up service, twice sending over replacement blades, wheels and inserts at no cost to me. With the exchange of photos via email, the problem was eventually spotted and with new wheels, rubber inserts and another blade so we could set the saw up correctly in an 'as new' condition, the problem was solved. I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received from Gryphon and would happily recommend a Gryphon product to anyone.
Cons : no cons :O)
Other Thoughts : More in depth manual could be advantageous :O)

  •   Great Ring saw
By on
Pros : great saw, easy to use, and very solid construction, I have never owned a ring saw, but after having done considerable research, this is the best saw of this kind hands down.
Cons : kind of noisy, and marker lines disappear in a flash.
