Bio: Carol Shelkin
My passion for art began as soon as I could hold a crayon. At the age of seven, I began studying at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, and from that point forward, art became a lifelong pursuit. I continued my artistic education at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and later studied with mosaic masters in Ravenna, Italy, where I developed a deep appreciation for both the rich traditions and contemporary possibilities of mosaic art.
Over the years, I have taught pottery, painting, and mosaics to students of all ages. Since 2008, I have focused primarily on creating and teaching stained-glass mosaic art. My work is known for its attention to detail, vibrant use of color, and exploration of contemporary mosaic techniques. I am a founding member and past president of the Mosaic Society of Philadelphia, a Master Artisan with the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, and the founder of Mosaic Art Retreats, Workshops, and Tours Worldwide.
As an instructor, I enjoy helping students develop their artistic vision, strengthen their technical skills, and discover their own creative voice. I look forward to sharing my experience, techniques, and passion for mosaic art as you create a unique work that reflects your individual style and perspective.
