Glass Art Resolutions for the New Year

Everything Else
As 2017 fast approaches, you’re probably thinking of what resolutions you’re going to make (and hopefully stick to) in the New Year. Perhaps it’s getting more exercise or eating more healthfully, the two most common resolutions people make every year. Those are great resolutions to make, but it’s also good to think outside the box when making your resolutions. Here are some suggestions for glass art resolutions to make.

1. Organize your creative space
By taking a little time to organize and arrange your art glass tools and supplies, you’ll be saving yourself time in the long run. That means you’ll have more time to focus on what really matters: being creative. Plus, when you keep things organized, you’ll know what supplies you need to stock up on. Nothing is more frustrating than being in the middle of a project only to realize you’re out of something you need.

2. Try something new
So you’re amazing when it comes to fusing glass, but why not give another type of glass art a try? You can attempt a mosaic or even try a new technique in fusing that you’ve never tried before. At Delphi, there are plenty of classes coming up. Sign up for one and learn something new!

3. Mentor a new artist
Nothing feels better than helping someone else out. If you know someone who is interested in learning how to get into glass fusing, mosaics, stained glass, or glass jewelry making, offer to show them the ropes. It will also help you fine-tune your own skills when you show someone else how to be creative.

4. Create more
If you’ve been putting your creativity on the backburner, make a resolution to create more pieces. Set a goal to make a minimum of 4 pieces per month, or whatever is most comfortable for you. You’ll feel wonderful when you take the time to nurture the artist in you.

5. Be bolder
Does the glass art you create have the same theme? Perhaps it’s flowers, birds, or beach life that you create beautifully. Step outside that comfort zone and create a piece unrelated to your usual themes. Challenge yourself to create something you wouldn’t normally choose for your inspiration and you will definitely surprise yourself with your ability.

What other glass art resolutions will you make? At Delphi, we want to see how you will Be Creative in the New Year! Happy New Year everyone!
