About Novacan
Patina is the finishing step that changes how a finished panel reads. Left bare, solder lines stay bright silver and draw the eye; blackened, they recede and let the glass carry the piece; copper patina warms them to match brass hardware or a wood frame. It is a small step at the end that changes the whole character of the work.
Delphi carries Novacan black patina for lead and solder, a separate black formulated for zinc came, and copper patina for solder. Their Old Masters flux and grinder coolant round out the range. Patinas work by chemical reaction, so a clean, well-washed panel takes them far more evenly - washing after soldering is worth the time.
