  •   Works as expected

Pros : New to stained glass and this is the first flux I have used. Applies easily with a cheap brushes and the 60/40 solder flows nicely.
Cons : Use a light hand, it can get messy and greasy if you use too much causing splatter

  •   Old Masters Flux
By on
Pros : I love this flux! I just pour what I need in a little jar. After soldering my project, if there's any left over I just cover the jar with a lid to save what's left over. This way there's no contamination of the rest of the flux. I think that's the biggest advantage of liquid flux over paste flux. I use the cheap disposable brushes to apply it, and I've had no problems.
Cons : "Mold" does seem to develop on the solder after a while, but this problem is easily remedied by polishing the project with carnauba wax.

  •   Never lets me down
By on
Pros : I have used this flux for 10 years. If you use the right flux brush, it goes on smooth and stays on.
Cons : I think you have to use brushes with real hair....the very inexpensive brushes have plastic brush tips.

  •   Old Master Flux
By on
Pros : I have mixed views on this product. I don't really like it as it seems to leave the solder more "dirty" than I would like. It is somewhat weak, and takes quite a bit of flux to get the solder to flow well.
Cons : I detest gel fluxes. Given that I am not overly impressed, I have put in an order for a few different fluxes.
Other Thoughts : A good flux is seemingly hard to find. Accordingly, I will try to remember to do a writeup after using the other fluxes.

  •   Not my choice!
By on
Pros : Don't have any pros
Cons : I didn't like this flux very much because it doesn't go on easy. It seems to resist the foil kind of like the foil has wax on it. I also had to apply it often. I usually by this brand and like a lot of their other chemicals so I was surprised when this flux was so bad.
