His wife didn't forget, and months later she bought him his first stained glass book. Rex has now been selling his art for thirty years. In 1996, he taught his wife stained glass, and today they own and operate the successful business Allen Stained Glass. Rex's favorite part about being in business? "Watching a customer walk away with that gleam in their eye as though they have found that special item they have been looking for, for years."|

Q&A with Wendy Hunt - Glass Jewelry
|How did you get started creating glass jewelry?
Glass art is an incredible passion I began pursuing about five years ago. I started kiln forming after my husband got me a kiln from Delphi.
When did you begin your own business?
The interest in my work grew rapidly so I applied to juried art shows. My husband and I currently show in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The jewelry is also available in galleries and stores across the nation and in various countries.
What are the benefi ts of starting a business?
Even though this is not my full time profession I love the creative expression and enjoy the financial benefi ts of owning a successful small business. Thank you Delphi for the supplies and expertise in gettingstarted on my second career!

Shari Burke - Kiln Formed Art
|Shari Burke of Ft. Dodge, IA opened Studio Fusion in 2008 on a whim. Shari liked fusing, but wasn't sure how to turn that passion into a business. When placing her first order with Delphi, she admits it was hard because of the initial investment amount. However, that investment paid off and Shari has been overwhelmed with the amount of business she's received. Between teaching classes, selling her art at shows and supplying several gift shops with handmade glass art, Shari has turned her whim into a success story.
"I can honestly say that I love it it's so relaxing for me to work in my studio after a long day at my real job. For a side job, it's becoming very lucrative for me, so that's another plus," says Shari.
