7/32 Black Backed Foil - 1.25 mil

7/32" Black Backed Foil - 1.25 mil

Item# 5596
After copper, black is best, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Best completes a look with solder-turned-black (with time), or with black patina.
Cons
A little more expensive than copper back.
Other Thoughts
1.25 has a nice intermediate thickness to it, and the black seems to stick really well in my experience. I generally use copper-back of 7/32", and then some applications use this black.

Nice look, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
I like the clear (white) bevel glass, especially when surrounded by clear colored glass.
Cons
None.
Other Thoughts
I think the cross stands out nicely.
Morton 3 And 12 Add-On Layout Blocks

Morton 3" And 12" Add-On Layout Blocks

Item# 7165
Very useful, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Keeps your edges nice and straight, especially for adding came afterward.
Cons
You might want to buy 2 packs right off.
Other Thoughts
This pack I found to be more cost effective. I might buy one more of this, rather than buying the other various sizes. The 12" and 3" allow for good combinations in getting the project edged.
1/4 Copper Backed Foil - 1.5 mil

1/4" Copper Backed Foil - 1.5 mil

Item# 5562
For that thick glass, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
I got this for some glass I have which is just too thick to use the regular foil.
Cons
If you like the "foil pen", you'll have to buy one for the 1/4", as it won't fit the smaller one.
Other Thoughts
Good to have a roll of this on hand.

Thicker, and match solder color, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Matches "inside" to leaving solder without patina. Thicker tape, which can be both a pro and a con. Doesn't tear or poke through as easily, but also doesn't conform as readily to glass with a lot of ridges in it.
Cons
Costs more than Copper foil.

Value Foil, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Works the same as other foil, but more cost-effective.
Cons
If you don't like seeing copper color through the glass, then you need to get the black or silver-backed.
Other Thoughts
I usually leave the solder to patina on it's own; in that case the copper is visible as "not matching", but to my eye adds some variety to the piece. I'm not concerned about the "not matching" (which is usually hardly noticeable), but I know some people are concerned about that (or like to patina with copper wash to match).
Small Celtic Cross Bevel Cluster

Small Celtic Cross Bevel Cluster

Item# 443153
Nice cross, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Makes for a good effect, especially when using colored glass around it.
Cons
None.
Other Thoughts
I liked the look when taking the rounded pieces and setting them back (move each rearward from the position shown), more as accent pieces which attract your eye back to the clear cross.

Quantity and flexibility, December 23, 2008 5 stars
Pros
Love the quantity that you get of this product. It's easy to work with, but is also strong and light. I've used it on a variety of applications, and like the strength the product adds.
Cons
If the glass project is very large, or needs a LOT of support, this came is not the one. You need to get the came with a void space built in. I prefer the 1/4" as the step up from this 1/8" came.
Other Thoughts
Biggest bang for buck if you ask me. You can create "H" shaped came easily, which makes a very strong product, with just a little effort.
