LULART's Profile
Bio
Lourdes Torgersen is a Brazilian-born artist whose creative roots run deep. Raised in Rio de Janeiro by painter parents and surrounded by the energy of their gallery, she grew up experimenting with materials and color as naturally as breathing. That early freedom to create shaped her lifelong devotion to craft.
Her journey as an expatriate broadened her artistic vocabulary. A first encounter with Murano glass lit a spark that never faded, and years spent traveling through Denmark and Scandinavia gave her access to studios, makers, and techniques that transformed her understanding of the medium. When she discovered glass fusing, everything clicked—this was the material that matched her inner rhythm.
With a background in graphic design, Lourdes moves easily across media, but glass is where she feels most alive. She builds pieces that glow with layered color, embedded textures, and organic inclusions, each one carrying memories of Brazil’s landscapes or impressions gathered from her life abroad. Her work is vibrant, emotional, and deeply personal—an ongoing conversation between culture, nature, and light.
