Wissmach Black Opal - 90 COE

Wissmach Black Opal - 90 COE

Item# W0290
Great Price, February 27, 2013 4 stars
Pros
Inexpensive, great for base layer.
Cons
Other Thoughts
I don't get devit with this glass, firing up to 1490.

Quick and easy, February 6, 2013 5 stars
Pros
Much faster than hardware store glass drill bits, stays sharper.
Cons
The bit tends to walk if you don't have a drill press.
Other Thoughts
I've drilled at least 50 holes with the first drill bit, and it has not discernibly dulled.

Fast and Convenient, February 6, 2013 5 stars
Pros
Much faster and easier than going out to the grinder. Just keep a bucket of water handy to dip the pad.
Cons
Other Thoughts
Mine has had two years of heavy use, and the diamond-coated sheeting is finally breaking up and coming away from the pad. It would probably have lasted even longer if I were more careful when grinding corners.

I usually use this stuff on devit-prone areas, and my work comes out great every time.

Sparse colors, January 29, 2013 2 stars
Pros
The colors are pretty, what there is of them.
Cons
Contrary to what the picture shows, this is primarily plain clear glass.
Other Thoughts
I purchased a number of Bullseye's fracture streamer colors for the first (and last) time in my last order. For the most part, the glass I received contained only 25% to 50% of the color depicted in the photo. My advice is not to buy any of Bullseye's fracture streamer colors unless you can select them in person.
Wissmach Wispy Blue Green

Item# WW0197
Very Pretty, January 29, 2013 3 stars
Pros
Inexpensive, colors accurately reflected by the picture
Cons
Mostly opaque, with an area of mostly transparent in the middle. Not what I expected from a glass billed as having medium light transmission.

Nothing like the Picture, January 29, 2013 1 stars
Pros
None
Cons
My 8 x 10 piece is 98% clear glass with a few anemic streamers, and less than a quarter of the frit shown in the example.
Other Thoughts
The glass I received is unusable for my type of work. Next time, I will make my own over Wissmach clear, for a third of the money.

Don't waste your Money, January 29, 2013 1 stars
Pros
None
Cons
Nothing like the picture. My 8 x 10 piece is 98% clear glass. A few pieces of medium/fine frit - only one piece of yellow! Streamers pulled so thin as to be nearly invisible in places.
Other Thoughts
I cannot imagine any use for this glass in my type of work.
