Black bears are not uncommon at Big Bear Lake, CA, just north east of Los Angeles in the Angeles National Forest. Brown bears are rare. The panel was commissioned by a cabin owner who had added a new bathroom and wanted a stained glass panel for the medicine cabinet. The panel is 15.75" x 22.50" and is copper foiled. The glass is a mixture of Uroborus mottled and Spectrum streaky. I painted the bear's head and the boulders with Reusche stained glass paint, and fired them at 1250 df in my kiln.
