Description:
When I built the addition to our hundred year old house, I included this window for the sole purpose of having space for an art glass Claddaugh. The window is at the stair landing that leads into our downstairs pub. My wife and I are American, but we both have Irish blood. Our wedding rings have Celtic knots on them, and I carved Celtic knots in the posts used in the addition. My wife's engagement ring is a Claddaugh shape. It took me several years to finish the addition and then start working on the Claddaugh. I knew what I wanted, but no design seemed just right so I included elements from several different ones. The design reflects the love and loyalty that I feel toward my wife. All of the supplies are from our local art glass dealer here in St. Louis, Preston Art Glass. My wife and I took an art glass class together 16 years ago, and we haven't stopped since. I prefer working with lead came, which is what I used on this project. Thank you for considering my submission.
Material used:
- lead came; art glass; 60/40 solder; patina; wax
