Marriage

This is our daughter's wedding shoe, along with some leaves from her bridal bouquet. After taking Dori Settles' shoemaking class at Delphi last year, my goal was to make this wedding shoe. Two shoes, six molds and lots of anxiety later, the shoe was complete. More than being just a replica of her shoe, the project came to be a metaphor for marriage which often starts out just perfect, like her beautiful beaded shoe, but shapes to the people in the marriage, and responds to the ups and downs of life together, but hopefully is always infused with lifelong growth and love. My husband Joe made the base for the project.
