It is now the largest distributor of art glass in Taiwan.
“We are dedicated to expanding our commitment to arts and education,” said Delphi founder and CEO Dan Daniels. “This is a great opportunity to bring instruction, supplies, inspiration and support to the people of Taiwan.
To further its commitment to education abroad, Delphi is sending two of its most experienced instructors to Taiwan in July to hold a five-day fusing class. Roy Kapp and Suzanne Fung will demonstrate different fusing and art glass skills, and share valuable tips and techniques with participants. Jewelry | Wednesday, May 5, 2010 | Julie B.

Delphi, the source for art glass supplies, and ArtFire, the premier marketplace for handmade crafts, announce a new online art contest. The Ring of Fire Artist Challenge™ is open to all artisans. Entries are being accepted now at DelphiGlass.com/RingOfFire. Contest ends June 30 and winners announced July 9, 2010.
Following its annual festivities for National Art Glass Month, Delphi has organized another online event with the help of its partner ArtFire. The first annual Ring of Fire Artist Challenge is designed for all artisans of all crafts and abilities, inviting them to use common art supplies in new and creative ways.
Artisans are asked to choose one or more items from the 10 products that make up the Ring of Fire. These items range from patterned dichroic glass and fine silver wire to mosaic tiles made entirely from recycled glass. Winners are chosen by popular vote and jury based on technical skill and creativity. A beginner’s category is also available. Grand prize includes a Delphi EZ-Pro Deluxe Kiln by Jen-Ken Kilns, which fires both glass and ceramics. Winners also receive many prizes from Delphi, ArtFire and all sponsoring companies.

Origami deep mold
Fusing | Thursday, April 29, 2010 | Debbie T.
The first time I used this mold, I put in 2 peices of glass that had been fused. The problem was that the peice fell more on one side then the other. I would like the peice to retain it's shape -question could I slump a single peice into the mold ? I'm new to fusing and i've read a few books they suggest to use more the one peice of glass when slumping. I'd appreciate some advise. Thanks Deb

Randy's Pro Tips: What went wrong with my firing?
Fusing | Tuesday, April 27, 2010 | Julie B.

With great anticipation you open your kiln after a firing and to your dismay your work is lying there hopelessly broken into a dozen pieces. Once you get over the shock, you need to figure out what happened. You need to determine if the fracture happened during the temp up, or temp down phase. Examine one of the cracked pieces. Are all the edges rounded off or are they raw and sharp? Rounded edges indicate the break happened during the ramp up stage. The glass broke on its way up to 1000°F then continued to heat up to fire polish temperature. If the broken edges are sharp that means the fracture happened during cool down. Use this information to slow your ramp up speed or to extend the anneal soak time and/or the cool down speed for your next firing. This tip brought to you by Randy Wardell and the book "Fuse It" by Petra Kaiser.

About the gallery
Flameworking | Wednesday, April 14, 2010 | sharlee g.
I just want everyone to know I think you are all wonderful artists! What you have in these galleries are awesome and I love almost all of it. You all do very high quality work...at least it looks this way to me. This is the first time visiting this website. I will be back and hopefully will be able to put a photo of something nice I made on my profile....but I think you people have been doing this for quite some time....I have no clue as to what to do. I've done ceramics in college. I've done the "fake" stained glass - using paints. I like to create jewelery. But most of all, I have a love for unique glass art. Anyway, I forgot to say hello! Now I say good night...insomniac night.

Historical Techniques
Stained Glass | Sunday, February 28, 2010 | Delaney H.
Hi all!
I've been wondering about techniques used before the invention of electricity. I understand lead channels were used but they still would have to have been joined at the corners and some type of glazing compound used to stabilize the glass into the came.
Common sense tells me a piece of metal (possibly iron) would have been heated in a fire then set against the seam to melt bits of scrap lead and join the two pieces of came? How close am I?
Possibly pine pitch was used as a glazing compound?
I'm writing a historical novel and would really appreciate some input on this. If anyone out there actually knows, fantastic! All the articles I pull up tell me nothing. I've worked in stained glass for thirty years, using modern methods, and Delphi has always been my source of supplies. Has anybody ever lwritten anything into how it was actually done in the early days? I'd like to be at least a bit acurate.
