Autumn Day, stained glass mosaic on wood, 36" x 24", 2010 by Kasia Polkowska
I got the idea for this piece while hiking at Bear Mountain State Park. It was a crisp and bright day, everything was illuminated. We were a little short on time and couldn't linger around as long as we wanted to. While hurrying to make the last bus to make it back home to Brooklyn I got an idea. I created an imaginary character who would mark the way back to this day by building cairns through out the woods. Before leaving the park, I found the perfect place with plenty of stones for my girl.

This piece is very spiritual...it got my attention above all the others. I feel as though I have been to this place before, like a past life. I am a fused glass artist near LA, but I am originally from upstate NY. I used to do only stained glass, and have done many mosaics, but your work is transforming. You can see my work at www.terrapaxstudio.com. I have a large mosaic in the archive commissions area. But your work , well...you are gifted, Kashia. Thank you for sharing!
