I have always loved glass in all it's forms. I have bought several glass pieces over the years from the local artisians.Five years ago I decided to take a stab at it and save some money...hahaha. I invested in a paragon kiln, lots of how-to books and then sheets of glass with no rhyme or reason. Over the years I have learned that it's definitely not as easy as I thought when I was the consumer,nor is it less expensive, but it sure has been lots of fun. I have tried stained glass, I definitely don't have the patience, I do torchwork, they look like pretty big marbles, I can't get them small or even enough to make jewelry that I am drawn to so I primarily use my torch to create stringers, twisties and other decorations for my fused pieces. Fusing has really opened up my artistic side, which I never knew existed. Two years ago I suffered a back injury that left me primarily bedbound for over a year. It has been in these last 6 months that I have been able to "do my glass" again. It takes me much longer to finish a project, but I am definitely having more fun with it, not taking it so seriously like I used to before my injury. My husband would call me the millimeter queen since I was so anal about my measurements,my 90 degree angles or my mitered corners. I now work with the glass and not to try to control it.

Multi Hole Pot Melt Mold

Pros
I absolutely love this bowl. The results of the melt are definitely one of kind. I got 5 different design elements out of one melt. There are so many things that I can create out of this melt. I can cut it for unique jewelry, wind chimes, etc, or just leave as is for a high impact piece. It's fun to have a total surprise of what your end result will look like. I bought the whole set.

Cons
I had read that it had cracked after the first use. So, I gave it a slow cool down ramp, no cracks. I still have to figure out how to cut the melting glass while it's still hot to avoid the glass cooling into icicles. It's way too hot to get in there and snip the dripping glass. So, after it cools I have to break the so-called icicles from the pot holes that are now attached to my glass. I then grind these spots where I cut the glass and then fire polish it. I will figure out a way to get rid of the icicle problem.

Other Thoughts
Totally worth it. If it cracks, I will buy another one. I melt it right onto thinfire paper so I don't have to worry about my kiln shelf. I definitely encourage a slow ramp to cool it down.
