The Simpson's in 3D

0 loves
Description:

This window was a birthday present for a friend who is a diehard fan of the show. It took several attempts to make all the characters realistic looking.

The background is a deep green with the Simpson's logo sandblasted and spray painted white. The detail lines and eyes were sandblasted and spray painted black. The eyelashes and Homer's hair are wire. Marge's hair is created with blue ripple glass. The teeth and tongues were painted white and red with standard model paint. The frame is made of maple and stained.

There are multiple layers that create the 3D look. Silicone was used to hold them all together.
Here's how it was put together from the bottom up:

Green background
White glass that you see under the hole
1/4" glass spacers to lift up the design and create the gap the characters needed at the bottom
Black drop shadow of the torn looking hole (you can see this clearly at the bottom of the window)
White torn hole
Homer and Marge (all the characters are placed at an angle so that part of the bodies are both inside and outside the hole)
Bart and Lisa
Maggie
