Basket of Flowers

@pmeewes I believe this lovely arrangement was an original artwork by the artist that shared the photo. Looking at the scale of the flower being assembled on a grid surface in the additional image, I would estimate that the flowers each vary from about 2-1/4" to 4-1/2" diameter; making this full floral arrangement likely about 20" - 24" in full width. It certainly is a colorful and beautiful project!

This is beautiful! Can you tell me what the finished size was?

Do you have a pi of the back side? I'd like to see the set-up, if possible. This piece is gorgeous and inspiring.

@cathy p. Thank you. No, I did not have a pattern although I did have an original piece to look at. I worked on this piece off and on for a couple of months. I started with making the individual flowers, which went fairly quickly. The time consuming part came when trying to figure out how to put it all together. I thought at first that I could position the flowers first and then fill in with greenery and jewels. Had to take some apart when I realized that some of the greenery had to be soldered first, otherwise I couldn't reach it with iron. Thanks again for the compliments--it's my favorite of all that I have done, the colors are cheery and it brings a smile to my face every time I walk past it!

@Mrs1919 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it. I did not have a pattern. My mother inherited a similiar piece and I fell in love with it. I couldn't find any patterns for this type work so she let me borrow it to look at and study. Reinforcing the flowers was a trial and error experience. I started out with 3 main supports consisting of 3 or 4 pieces of 14 guage wire twisted together, running up from the bottom of the vase, the middle one ended with the blue flower. I added different branches off of these 3. When I first thought I was finished, I stood it up and the two sides seemed like they were waving! I then went back and added more support using brazing rods to tie together the three main supports in different places. I learned a lot while making this piece that I will incorporate into the 2 new pieces that I am making for gifts. Thanks again for looking.
