Description:
A unique handmade stained glass candleholder made using repurposed glass jar bottoms as the sides. The four jar circles are placed around a square blue glass base. This candleholder has a solid look and feel and would work well out on a patio table or as a decorative piece inside.
I broke the bottoms out of everyday glass jars which held spaghetti sauce and salsa, then ground them down to the circular shape. I also ground a flat part on each, so they could connect better to the base. Each circle has the pattern from when it was formed as a jar, which gives a little distortion when looking directly through the clear glass. The jars used were all relatively close in size, but there is a slight variation since they were not identical.
Next I placed copper foil around each jar bottom and soldered them in a square shape to each other and to the blue glass base. The finished candleholder is 3 inches (7.6 cm) square all around. Each circular jar bottom is roughly 3 inches (7.6 cm) in diameter.
