The Brass and Glass Carousel

0 loves
Description:

The carousel is made entirely of stained glass and brass. A gearhead motor drives the horses up and down and rotates the carousel . This project is the first of two to be built and they will someday belong to my grand daughters Madison and Kelly shown with the carousel. Build time was 4 months, and contains approximately 6 square feet of glass, 2 rolls of solder, 8 feet of 1/4" brass rod, 6 feet of 1/8" brass rod and various pieces of brass hardware. An engineering drawing package documents the entire manufacturing and assembly process and contains 17 drawings.  The glass work was done in my glass shop and the drive mechanism was manufactured in my machine shop.
