Description:

This was commissioned by a friend that is in a Bluegrass Band with her Husband and 2 others. The design is based on the cover to their CD and features the actual instruments they play leaned against and cedar tree at the Magnolia Fest. It was my 1st attempt to combine painting and fusing techniques including various kinds of glass paints and Mica powders. The glass is cut and layered all on the large tree, painted and fused. I used Uuniques glass paints for the tree afetr having already painted and fired rouche paint for shadows. I also used Rouche paints for the shading on the stand up bass and guitar and fiddle. The banjo is all assembled pieces and the neck has the correct amount of frets etched and then highlighted with mica powders which fused nicley. This is a dimensional piece so I controlled the final tack fire to the extent that the glass stringers used for the bass strings remained fully rounded yet fused on. The entire large tree with instruments fused on were then assembled into a stained glass panel and framed out. When my client gave this to her husband for Christmas....he cried. Home run! I hope you like it too! I continue to used these techniques in all my panels now.
