The thanks for this line of shards can go out to every Vampire lover out there, (Team Jacob by the way - JOKING!) and the traditions that helped spawn some of their myths. Many cultures around the world believed that to leave one's soil behind was to leave home for good. To keep this from happening, many people began taking a keepsake of their home soil with them. Graned, most didn't take a whole coffin of soil, like Dracula but there ya have it.

This shard has a hollow core that you can place soil, hair (from your child's first haircut) or any number of items (Like holy water to ward off vamps!).
