Description:
The stained glass koi fish is my original design and pattern. The fish is shown from the side, with the tail curving around to the left. He is made from glass with some beautiful color shades that change from light orange, red, deep orange, even a little white. The fish is all cut from the same piece of glass but his fins are a deeper red than the body and tail.
Koi fish have many meanings, but some of them are love, luck, and good fortune. They have become a popular tattoo item, and I drew this pattern with the tattoo style in mind. The waves curve around the outside of the fish like he is splashing through the water. The waves are made of a deep blue, light blue and white glass- and all have a slight pattern within the glass. The white glass is on the outside edges, like foam on top of the water.
All the glass in this piece is translucent and when the light shines through the bright orange of the koi really pops out. There are some open areas where the waves curve and touch each other at the tops. The eye and whiskers of the fish are painted with acrylic glass paint. The piece hangs from two wire hooks embedded in the solder at the back. It is 8 inches (20 cm) high and 6.5 inches (16 cm) wide.
