Fruit of Life

This piece is not only a beautiful work of art that brightens up the kitchen but it also serves the purpose of a back splash for a cook top stove. I chose to fuse the fruit and bowl in the kiln to set them apart from the mosaic background due to its smoother and colorful appearance. I used copper in the bananas to give them a realistic look. Copper was also used in the stems of the pear and apples. Reflective tape was used in the plums and grapes to give them a unique but realistic look. The entire piece was outlined in copper to define and draw attention to the work of art.
