Four 12 inch rings 2 8 inch rings (each about 1 inch wide) of System 96 Opal were laid over a 10 inch square of System 96 Green Opal - after fusing the piece measured apprixmately 13 inches square - imagine rings of glass fused parially over the corners of the square piece - each overlapping in places.
This was then placed on a 7 inch Stainless Steel Form which was elevated another 4 inches on kiln posts. 6 inch Strips of Fiber paper were placed against the posts/Form to prevent the glass from coming in contact. Slumping with a slow ramp to 1250 helped to create the first of what I call our "Ribbon Vases". Handkerchief style vases with ribbons of glass that twist and turn to create a really dynamic looking fused glass vase. This vase stands approximately 12 inches tall - 7 inches wide at the mouth and 3 inches wide at the base.
