Black and Blue Celtic Knot Stained Glass

This is a traditional celtic knot design that I tweaked to make it work in stained glass. The basic shape is a square with a curve that almost looks like pretzel shapes running around the outside. All together the knot looks like a flower and has a bit of a moroccan feel to it. The piece starts with a round royal blue glass gem center. The gem is 1.5 inches around (38 mm). Extending out from the center and forming an "x" shape, are four black iridescent glass lines. These connect to the outer square frame that is also in black glass. The black iridescent glass can look plain black from one angle, then shine with green and purple tones and have a mirror effect at another angle. Twisting around the outer frame of the square is a curved continuous loop of royal blue irridescent glass. There are two loops around each side of the square, looking like a pretzel, and then it continues on to loop around the next side. The spaces between the glass are all open and all the glass edges have been soldered to a smooth, round edge. The piece is symmetrical, but the loops on the top and bottom are a little farther apart than the loops on the right and left-making it balanced up and down, and sideways.

The knot is 8.5 inches square. It hangs from two hooks embedded in the solder at the back of the top two loops.
