BA-butterfly

This is dichroic glass piece I fused which has been mounted in a homemade step bezel using sterling silver wire and fine silver bezel wire.

The wings are using dead soft sterling wire-wrapping wire that has been soldered to the bezel below as if the body is a butterfly chrysalis.

The name is an allusion to the Egyptian BA bird which is allowed to leave the mummy's body and travel around  only to return periodically. I started the pice my huband's heart attack on Jan. 1 st and felt compelled to add the wings after he recovered a couple of weeks later.......as a talisman. It has important memories and significance attached to it.
