Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos) Stained Glass Panel. 10" Tall by 14.25" Wide. This work features a total of 107 hand cut pieces of glass and is constructed in the copper foil method. the piece is finished with a lead frame and the solder line and frame are treated with a black patina to give the piece a slightly rustic, antiqued look. This fabulous house jewelry frame has two integrated hooks and is ready to hang.
The piece evokes the charm and pageantry of the 3,500 year old Dia De Los Muertos traditional festival that evolved from Aztec Tradition in Mexico that honors the dead.
During the festival that occurs November 1st and 2nd each year, people wear wooden skull masks called calacas and dance in honor of their deceased relatives. The wooden skulls are also placed on altars that are dedicated to the dead.
