Great Smokey Mountains

The inspiration for this piece was a autumn day in cades cove in the great smokey mountains. I combined a basket weave pattern for the bottom layer of grass and the upper layer of grass was made by fusing various frit particals to create a textured grass effect. This was also done for the fall leaves on the trees. It was important to capture the essence of a log cabin thru wood burning as well as that on the fence posts. The Great Smokey Mountains are very near and dear to my heart and this is my way to feel the smokeys when so far from there. Anyone whom has visited the Great Smokey Mountains can not walk away without the inspiration that it magically infuses on individuls especially during the fall dancing of the leaves.
