Spectacular Northern Lights

 The panel was created by hand cutting transparent fused glass into multiple sizes and shapes. The pieces of glass were layered to create the design. Using a kiln pressed technique during the firing process produced a beautiful watercolor effect. The moon was added in the second firing of the panel. Clear glass was added in the third firing to add depth to the design. The panel was coldworked and fire polished, decals were added and fired on for a permanent finish.
All the fused glass used in the design are transparent glasses. Multiple colors were used in the design (amber, purple, blues, light iridized blue and streaky white glass).
The moon is a clear dichroic glass containing blue accents,texture and a magnificent shine. The panel measures 8.25"x 8.25".
