Prairie Welcoming

This welcoming front entry transom window piece consists of five individual 11 x 12" panels presented in a 12 x 51" self made custom red-oak mission frame with routed grooves to hold each piece in place.  Each piece is a self created geometric pattern with inspiration from the works of Frank Lloyd Wright; as evidenced by the signature bookend prairie wheat panels.

Four of the five pieces are constructed completely in the zinc came method; both internally and border.    A small came saw was used to cut the multitude of miters for construction and solder.  Note that the center flower piece is made in the copper foil method. 

With three kids under the age of 5; I have become obsessed with Lead Free construction.  So this is a completely "lead free" piece using zinc came inside and out with Johnson Mfg's lead free IA 423 Solder.

This project truly "lights" up our home in the afternoon....and is a great conversation starter when welcoming people to our home!  Enjoy!
