Wine in Time

Description:

This 43" x 35" panel was an experiment with inserting objects into a panel, for a wedding gift.   I created the design using the smallest diameter wine glass and colored wine bottles that I could find.   The wooden shelves they're sitting on are only about 3" wide, in an effort to keep the profile appropriate for a hanging panel.   I filled the wine glass with colored candle gel.   The most difficult part was flipping the panel for soldering and cleaning.   I used a piece of plywood with cutouts for the shelves, bottles, and glass.   The original brass frame I was using looked pretty feeble when it was finished, so my handy husband made one of wood, more in keeping with the massive look of the panel.  The center initial on the top is (her) new last name and the two on the bottom are the initials of their first names.

One suggestion:   If you make something this size, and aren't independently wealthy, don't have it shipped to Alaska.   Yikes.
