"A country that believes in more than itself" I was asked to be a part of a wonderful cause; True Patriot Love Foundation. This foundation celebrates the selfless service of our soldiers and their families. They have raised over $16 million and sent over 425 Military Children to Camp. It has become the largest celebration in support of military families our country has ever seen. The cornerstone of the True Patriot Love Auction is the collection of diverse replica Canadian army helmets that are painted, sculpted, signed and transformed by wonderful Canadian artists and celebrities . Each helmet reflects the artist’s vision of Canada and honours the sacrifices made by our military and their families. It is an expression of hope, love and care of our fellow human beings expressed in a uniquely Canadian way. My challenge was to create a piece of art using a replica Canadian army helmet. I wanted to incorporate stained glass and thought the Maple leaf would be a great subject embracing the helmet. The helmet will be auctioned off to raise money for this cause, this is what I created!
