Hummingbird

This is a scarlet throated hummingbird created with stained glass, baked on enamels, small green and cream colored glass beads and fired on stains for detail. Pieces of colored glass are cut and shaped then glued to a piece of clear glass then grouted with a light green grout and sealed with car wax....The art measures 12.5 inches by 15.5 inches including the solid wood frame which is finished in a vivid orange to pick up the color of the trumpet flowers. Finally real gold leaf is applied to the front of the frame allowing the orange base color to show through in places. The frame also gets a light antiquing glaze and several coats of clear spray. The eye of the bird is a half round plastic disc painted black. Because the frame is solid wood, hooks can be screwed into the top of it to facilitate hanging the panel by chains in a window. You can also just stand it on a window sill as shown.
