Roses for a Monastery

0 loves
Description:

I designed and made this panel to fit into a transom in the music room of a local monastery. The transom let unfiltered light in the room and it fell directly across their beautifully restored 9-foot grand piano. The monks asked me if I could make a panel to fit into the transom which would hopefully solve the light problem and save the finish on the piano. They asked me to design a transom with roses in it since just outside this room is their rose garden. I gave the panel a trellis background since some of their roses grow on a trellis. The monks chose the colors for the roses: red, white, and yellow represent members of the Godhead, and the blue background represents Mary.
