Sunset Behind Sandia Mountain

Fused glass sculpture inspired by a magical Winter Solstice sunset seen from Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The sun sets in glory behind the majestic Sandia Mountain which towers at 10,679 feet. This sculpture was created using 96 COE glass in light blue for the base and frit glass used in an impressionistic manner to create the scene. Subtle shades of black, red and irridized bronze create the mountains; while shades of dark blue, orange, red and irridized clear create the majestic clouds. This piece was fired on the shelf to create a flat back for easy display on a wall or incorporated into tile work.
