New Day

The images on this rooster – bluebirds, hummingbirds, bullfrogs, redwing blackbirds, poppies, fish, turtles, horses (represented by the cowgirl boot), ponds, trees and flowers are things I love about my California lifestyle. And, of course, chickens! When I began this piece, my husband and I had 70 Maran chickens. New Day, now our only chicken, is made of styrofoam, concrete, rocks and glass. He sits on our deck looking over our ponds, horses and cattle, welcoming each new day.
