Inspired by Tiffany

Description:

I have only been working in stained glass for the last 6 months. I was inspired by my dad, who used to work in glass but has now moved on to other creative outlets. I recently underwent open heart surgery for a congenital defect that was only discovered this past summer. Having a project to work on kept me calm and focused during my recovery.

This piece was inspired by the irises in the Tiffany's window that hangs in the Museum of Fine Art in Houston. I have always admired Tiffany's work and I visited it often with my many trips to Houston. Researching Tiffany further, I was drawn to the window with magnolia and irises. These flowers make me feel at home in south Louisiana.

This piece is installed in my front door, with plans to make another one with less of the magnolia flowers and more irisies for the left door window. At it's tallest point, it is 39"x15". This is my own design, adapted from a Tiffany window.
