This idea was first suggested by my Dad. He said one of his favorite stories was about some Polynesians, lost at sea in their paddle boat. They were able to find their way home by following sea turtles. They knew that the turtles would take them to land. Because of this, they always had reverance for sea turtles and used them as a symbol for finding your way in life.
This glass sea turtle was a labor of love for me. I tried several attempts at getting the proportions right, the eye just right, and the markings on the shell. Of course, my Dad got the pick of the litter!
