Sinister execution (of my job)

This is a work in progress art project. Dimension 6.56 x 4.75 ft.

The image shown by this stained glass is the European map.

It is made of the same quantity of pieces of glass, than the number of missing migrants having lost life in the (only) eastern part of Mediteranean Sea, called Egee See, for the beginning of the year 2016.

They got flooded while crossing a small chanel between Turkey and the Lesbos Island, part of Greece, and then of Europe.

The small squares of glass have also been sandblasted in the front side, so as to produce a glow or a frog before the image. So walkers and watching people, need to wet the glass (with salted water !) to reveal the real image they should remember.

As a citizen, from who children will later enquire explanations for this inhuman situation, I have only the way for acting, offered by my skills of stained-glass craftman. This object, is supposed to help people realize how civil migrants are close beetwen the war they run away from, to the dream of peace they have. A few miles, that become the distance beetwen life and death. More, as every breaking news offers always some more deaths in this area, but rarely quotes the real count. 354 missing migrants a few days ago.

But I already need to update the stained glass, and divide it with 12 new squares. This will de done, next saturday, april 2nd. What explains the title: Sinister Execution.
