This is done with lead came.  When I decided to lead it, I realized I was out of came, so I went to KC to pick some up.  Without looking closely, I didn't realize they accidently gave me some thin came. I decided to use it anyway, and really like the results, despite the the fact that it took me longer than I can planned to finish it. A friend had the beautiful watery blue glass which was perfect for the heart.
