Description:

These pictures show 5 dichroic watches I have made for friends and "new friends."  I am so happy that there are people who still like to wear a watch - instead of just checking their cell phone.  I made the bands for these watches in my kilns in my Michigan workshop.  I used a double layer of thin fusible glass - one of them dichroic glass.  These watches were made for specific wrists between  6 inches to 8 inches.

Each piece of these watch bands is fully fused.  I fused each piece of the watch band from the first fuse, instead of cutting & fusing one full strip to cut into watch band pieces later.  Next, I drilled a hole in each end of the watch band pieces.  Then, these pieces go on a metal bracelet mold laid on its side.  The pieces then slump into the shape you see in the pictures so it fits comfortably around the wrist.

Next, I attached the watch band pieces to the watch face with wire.  I add beads to the ends if needed for sizing.  A toggle clasp works best for these watches - in order to make sure that they stay on the wrist securely.  I added a safety chain to the watch in Picture #1, per the request of my customer.

I love the look of the dichroic glass in these watches - truly "Art Glass" Jewelry.
