Kokanee (Landlocked Sockeye Salmon)

This is a Kokanee, a landlocked species of Sockeye Salmon.  These are normally a bright silver color but change to this coloration pattern as they approach their spawning cycle.  This piece is about 6" X 10" and is unusual for my work in the I used paint (baked on) for the rays in the fins.  These fish can be found in many rivers and lakes in the Pacific Northwest.
