A View of the Sleeping Bear Dune

The Sleeping Bear Dunes in northwest Michigan are a natural national treasure.  This transom panel, which I patterned from a photo I took of the dunes from the Empire Bluffs Trail, features not only the sleeping bear but also the surrounding hills, Glen Lake, and of course Lake Michigan.  The panel is 12" x 33", and is the centerpiece of a trio of transom panels overlooking Crystal Lake.  Some of the elements that I tried to recreate using glass are the movement of the always impressive Lake Michigan waves, the breezes that always dand in the northern Michigan sky (Clear Baroque says "wind" to me.  I love to use clear glass in my skies, because the piece changes character with the weather by reflecting the blue of the outside sky, the gray of stormclouds, and the colors of the sunset!), and the beautiful variety of colors in the sands and trees in the hills surrounding the dunes.
