Description:

" Father's Gift" cribbage board box set inglass.

3 years ago my father gave me a gift, his stained glass tools. The same tools that I had given to him as presents.  The reason for his gift was to give me a distraction.

I suffer from a rare neurological disorder as a result of a injury that ended my 30 year Paramedic/Firefighter career.

To help me recover and provide more distration  we get together and play cribbage weekly.

I decided what better way to thank him and utilize the gift of tools he gave , I was going to make a cribbage board box set in glass.  The set is 8" x 16" x 1" box with a hinged lid, inside 3/4" floating dividers hold 2 - decks of cards, pen and score book, 8 - 1 1/2" score pegs made from 4 colored 1/8" glass rod with foil embellishments. The lid consists of 1 solid 8" x 16" spectrum glass with an gameplay inlay cut in using a Zephyr ring saw with seperatating blade.  The gameplay inlay consists of 24 - blanks with 10 ea 1/8" holes hand drilled , start and finish blanks and 2 red frets.  Grand total of 245 - 1/8" holes drilled.  All put together using 1/4" scalloped foil and 40/60 solder.

I started by cutting and drilling the blanks and peices for the game play inlay.  After deciding the final layout, I foiled and soldered track.  I traced game play track on lid, drilled and cut out with Zeyphr ring saw and seperating blade.  The rest was basic box construction.

For everyone out there.   If you can invasion it, you can make it.  With a few basic tools,  you CAN make whatever ever you want. This was my 5th project in my short glass career, if I can do it so can you.
