Description:
This is a piece commissioned by a client of Lakota heritage. For the shield I used layers of cut glass, frit, enamels with multiple firings. The medicine wheel design and colors were specified by the client. I created glass eagle feathers using thin glass, cmc/frit powder and multiple firings, and then hung them from the shield with lampworked beads I made along with horse hair tails. The top of the shield has traditional trade cloth red wool rolled and laced on to the glass with latigo. This piece was technically a challenge, but very rewarding because I was able to bring to life this persons vision.
Material used:
- Kiln formed glass
- lampworked beads
