I'm fascinated by the beauty of reactive glass, and love the organic flow of draped vases. This lovely Egyptian blue and French vanilla vase required 4 separate kiln firings to get the final piece. I first crackled and then fused French vanilla glass powder into small glass "islands". Egyptian blue Bullseye glass was then fused on top of the vanilla. The two glasses reacted with each other to create deliniating lines between the colors. A clear sheet of glass was fused onto the piece for a 3rd firing. The glass was then draped and fired over a stainless steel form to take its final shape.
The vase is 7" high and 8" at its widest point, and weighs 2 pounds.
